Clarion Collection Hotel Christiania Teater – Oslo, Norway

As I mentioned in my previous blog post my boyfriend and I went on a staycation in our own city. This is our first Easter together and it feels good to escape our day to day responsibilities of our normal lives for a day. We spent a night at the Clarion Collection Hotel Christiania Teater located only a 100 meters away from Oslo’s main street Karl Johans gate. Restaurants, cafés and cinemas are just around the corner – as well as souvenir shops, malls and museums.

Upon arrival after checking in and getting our keycards Christian and I went to the coffee room right next to the reception area to have ourselves a coffee and tea to go before we head to our room.

I must admit – living in many different hotels for the past two years has given me quite an insight of various concepts that exists in the hotel industry.

Hotel Christiania Teater has 102 rooms and is rather unique and different. They have this cool concept where “You’ll never go hungry when you stay at the hotel”. I know this may sound a little too good to be true – because in most cases when we live in a hotel, lunch and dinner are not included unless it’s all-inclusive. But at Christiania Teater they serve complimentary breakfast, mid-afternoon snack with something home-baked and an evening meal! And even if you arrive after 9pm, they’ll make sure you get something to eat.

Finding our room wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, there weren’t enough signs in the hallways that lead us to the seventh floor. And when we got there we weren’t sure which room was ours as the room number was missing from the wall – on top of that our keycards didn’t work, so I had to go all the way down to the reception to get new ones. Thankfully, the receptionist was kind enough to accompany me back to the room to make sure that the new keycards were working.

A SUITE WITH A MAJESTIC TOUCH.

The hotel had prepared a fruit platter for our arrival with a cute welcome card. The suite in which we stayed had a majestic touch – making me feel like a princess for a night! Our beautiful and clean home was located on the seventh floor with big wide windows overlooking the view of Karl Johans gate and Stortinget (Parlament building).

The room had free Wi-Fi access, two flat screen TVs with cable channels, and a minibar – to my disappointment it was empty.. hmm.

The room was furnished with two fancy sofas, a matching coffee table and a 180cm-wide bed. It also had a separate modern bathroom made of black marble that I fell in love with, as well as a cool shower and a very comfortable bathtub.

After making ourselves at home, Christian and I went down to the second floor to eat at the hotels charming dining room. If you ever stay at the Hotel Christiania Teater make sure to eat some of their tasty blueberry cakes for dessert. This dining room is also where they serve breakfast every morning. In case you were wondering how breakfast was like  – it was nutritious and delicious. The staff was also nice and friendly – if you have any questions or are gluten intolerant you can ask a servant if you can get a gluten free bread or two. They’d be happy to help you!
