Tired of the hustle and bustle of Stone Town, Zanzibar? Take a 45 minute drive to the south and spend a long weekend at Fruit and Spice Wellness Resort - a five-starred resort located in Kizimkazi.

Set on acres of lush gardens packed with tropical plants, colourful birds, unique caves and with its white sand beaches - mostly untouched the resort offers its guests a place of peacefulness and privacy.

Fruit and Spice has a restaurant offering a wide array of authentic African and international all-you-can-eat dishes and a bar where guests can enjoy a drink or two.

Due to the size of the resort, its beautiful location and its concept I would personally say that this hotel is more suitable for couples, honeymooners or a group of friends. There are plenty of fun activities on the resort, such as jet skiing, canoeing, darts and ping pong.

Fruit and Spice also provides free use of bicycles. Are you staying at the resort alone you might feel a pinch of boredom unless you're comfortable traveling solo or is as talkative as me. Engaging a conversation with the staff was easy, especially when they were so friendly, welcoming and helpful.

Aside from having the ocean right next to the resort, Fruit and Spice has an outdoor swimming pool with chairs and loungers, a fitness center and a spa. There's a dock on site -  a wooden platform built over water, with one end secured to the shore. It's one of the best spots to watch the sunset.
