OLD RESIDENCE FROM THE 19TH CENTURY.
In the back of the cobblestoned alley, alongside the inner lakes of Copenhagen lies Hotel Kong Arthur – a boutique hotel consisting of four different buildings with 155 rooms. The property was an old residence from 1882 which now has turned into a hotel with a cozy atmosphere. A fire place, comfy sofas and a knight themed reception area awaits when you enter the doors.
The eco-friendly hotel which is also a part of the world’s first CO2-neutral hotel chain features three in-house restaurants, lobby bar, a modern conference center and a 850sqm spa area including a hot tub, sauna and a fitness room. Every morning the hotel wishes to give us an experience of the New Nordic Cuisine. Offering fresh local ingredients from the breakfast buffet, such as jam and butter from the local dairy farms. Their bread is from a local baker who uses organic flour. The bacon, eggs and everything else are all organic.
In the afternoon between 5 and 6 pm, guests are invited to Cozy Hour in the lobby where they serve a little something from the kitchen. What they serve vary from day to day.
The so called ApArt – the hidden penthouse is situated at the topmost floor. Hotel Kong Arthur lies in the heart of Copenhagen where food markets, cafés, restaurants and shops lie around the corner. Tivoli Gardens and the main shopping street, Strøget, are only a 15-minute walk away.
DOUBLE SUPERIOR
The room Madeleine and I lived in was located in the second floor. The narrow hallway seemed like a labyrinth. Our room was somewhere in the end of it. As we placed our keycard on the door handle I felt a big relief. Finally, home away from home for three days.
They had us checked in in a Double Superior room. Featuring a king sized bed, working desk, a minibar with tea and coffee making facilities, a sofa lounge, tv and a separated bathroom.
A Buddha sculpture was the first thing I noticed on the windowsill as I stepped in to have a look around. The room was simple, maybe a little too simple to my taste. A cute display on each bed table and a rug in the middle of the floor could’ve lit up the whole room. The lobby was full of details and decorations. Seing this contrast made the room appear a little empty.
But either way, it didn’t really matter, we spent most of our hours away from the hotel and we enjoyed our stay to the fullest filled with deep conversations, laughter and two big hearty organic breakfast every morning.
