IF THERE IS ANYTHING SUCH AS A 10*STAR HOTEL THIS MUST DEFINITELY BE IT!

Last week after our weekend getaway to Boracay, Ate Tess and I went straight to Manila to stay at the Midas Hotel for two nights before going home to Bulacan. We took a cab from the airport to the hotel which took us about 15 minutes. Midas is situated along Roxas Boulevard offering views of the famous Manila Bay. It’s located 5 kilometers away from NAIA international airport and only 2 kilometers away from the famous SM Mall of Asia – one of the largest malls in the Philippines. The hotel provides free scheduled shuttle service every day, several times a day.

I remember sitting in the cabs backseat being excited to live in a hotel in Manila. Believe it or not this was my first time ever to stay in a hotel in the capital city. We always go home after a day trip in Manila as my moms family live in Bulacan, which is like 40 minutes away if we are lucky and there’s no traffic.

P1011688The cab stops “we are here mam” the driver he says. Before I thought about opening the door there was already someone outside who opened it for me. “Mam Stephanie, Welcome to Midas hotel” I hear someone says. I was as surprised as my cousin cause neither of us expected such an intense and warm welcome. The staff greeting me by my name, here outside? I usually have to go inside to the front desk area where the Front Desk Manager is before someone welcomes me. But here, everybody knew who I was.

The second I stepped out of the cab I felt like I was welcomed home by my second family here in the Philippines. Everywhere I turned, everywhere I looked I hear Good morning Mam Stephanie. I must honestly say that I was overwhelmed by the hospitality I received. Out of all the hotels I have stayed at this has been the most interesting one – if there is anything such as a 10*star hotel, this must definitely be it!

Walking to the front desk area I was warmly greeted by receptionist, Noemi and their Front Desk Manager Rod. Instead of staying in line they insisted on letting me and ate Tess sit and wait in the lobby area while they were fixing our keycards and all the other stuff you do when you check in. A cup of coffee and some other refreshments were served while waiting patiently. It didn’t take more than a few minutes before everything was ready. As soon as we drank our beverages up we went straight to our room.

Midas hotel has 225 rooms all together with a private balcony, each room at Midas rates high in comfort and luxury. The hotel also has a fitness centre where guests can enjoy a morning workout or a pampering massage at the spa. It features a casino, a business centre, free Wi-Fi access in the entire property and offers two dining options; Yanagi, which offers authentic Japanese cuisine. And Midas Café, which offers everything from Western cuisines to classic Filipino dishes with a modern twist. This is also where I had breakfast which is served between 6am to 10am every morning.

We had a table reserved for us by the window, while checking out the wide selection of their delicious breakfast buffet Mond, our own servant came up to me and greeted me a good morning. He insisted on helping me with my breakfast so when my plate was filled with healthy choices from the buffet he would bring it back to our table. I asked Mond if they had any Tocino left since I couldn’t find it anywhere – it’s a typical filipino breakfast dish made of pork or chicken marinated only with salt and sugar. Mond told me they didn’t have Tocino but the chef can make some for me – it only took a few minutes before my favorite dish was placed on the table in front of me. Now that’s what I call service!

EXECUTIVE ROOM WITH BATH TOILETRIES BY BULGARI!

The second I open my room I see a nightstand filled with gifts. Far left I see a box of Chocolates, right next to it I see a big box of my favorite macarons! As if that wasn’t enough, they even decorated the stand with flowers of my favorite color – pink. Lastly I see a frame with three photos of myself taken from the blog. What a sweet way to welcome me home!

P1011717The room I had the privilege to stay in was an elegantly furnished Executive room equipped with an in-room safe, a flat screen TV, seating area, minibar and tea/coffee making facilitates. As well as a separate bathroom with a bathtub, bathrobes, a 3-way combination shower and bath toiletries by Bulgari!

Guests staying at the Executive floors can enjoy exclusive access to the Sunset Lounge on the 9th floor. The Club Lounge provides a complimentary spread of gourmet snacks and drinks from 4pm to 8pm.

Right next to the sofa there’s a sliding door which leads me out to the balcony where we had an overlooking view of Manila bay and Mall of Asia. You can also see the airport from here! During my stay here I had to try out the in-room massage. I booked a foot and a full body massage; one in the evening or actually it was more like 1am in the morning. And since I had a late check out the next day I had booked another appointment at 2pm. I have tried in-room massage before, like six years ago in Boracay. I remember being disappointed as the masseuses were unprofessional. But the ones at Midas hotel were well trained professionals.

During check out I was taken good care of the whole staff, especially by Cindy and Jayson. Since my pick up was late and I already had checked out they let me stay in the Sunset lounge even though there was an on going photoshoot at that time. And when my cousins were downstairs ready to pick me up the bellboy helped me carry my heavy bag to the car. Never have I ever felt so sad leaving a hotel, it really broke my heart to leave Midas. Everybody has been so nice to me. I felt so at home here as if I had my very own room in the hotel. I will never forget this extraordinary experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting us stay here, and thank you for everything Midas.

I will definitely come back!
