Støtvig hotel, Larkollen – Norway

I feel so lucky to have the privilege to stay at the cool Støtvig hotel in Larkollen, Norway. It’s located about 40 minutes away from Oslo by car and 15 minutes away from Rygge airport where I caught a flight to Dublin on Sunday. While checking in on Saturday I was warmly greeted by a sweet receptionist. Patrick, the Duty Manager, kindly gave us a tour of the hotel facilities. 

I’m very impressed about the whole concept of the hotel, I have never seen anything like it in Norway so far. It’s not only just a lovely hotel situated by the beach – the whole place is an experience in itself. You have almost everything under one roof.

Not only do they offer free access to the spa area where they have an outdoor pool, steam bath and sauna, but they also have the original copy of the shark from the JAWS movies hanging on the wall above the indoor pool.

The hotel has several bars and restaurants; You have the Woodie bar – where they serve light meals and drinks. Bowl n’ Dine – where you can enjoy a big tasty Burger, a milkshake and maybe a game of bowling with your friends or family. You also have the 801 Oslofjord – where they offer brunch, à la carte dishes and delicious breakfast from 08am to 11am. The cozy area down the stairs by the entrance hall is inspired by Notting Hill, London. The hotel has 91 rooms in total. Not only that, they also have a library, a wine cellar and a cinema that is a carbon copy of the White Houses’ – only that they have leather seats. Guests can also rent a boat or enjoy a swim during the summer at the private beach by the fjord.

DOUBLE ROOM WITH AND AN OVERLOOKING VIEW OF THE OSLOFJORD

We got a lovely double room with a king size bed. The room had two balconies and the best overlooking view of the Oslofjord from the hotel that reminds me so much of the Hamptons. 

Our room features a flat-screen TV, a safety deposit box, working place and a separate bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer.

The room has also free Wi-Fi access, no password needed – from my own personal opinion and experience I would say that the internet runs a little bit slow sometimes. For some people this might be frustrating, especially if you’re used to super fast Wi-Fi.

I shot some pictures of the room during day and night time. It was an amazing feeling to wake up to such a beautiful view with my loved one right next to me.
