Its design might be inspired by the 1930’s colonial architecture but to me it rather reminds me of a movie setting of Tarzan and Jane. Situated in the heart of the old French District of Siem Reap, in front of the Royal Garden and within a short walking distance from the Old Market, lies the iconic Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa.

With its dark woods and French feel, this five star luxury hotel allows you to travel back in time. Featuring 120 rooms and 10 Suites set in an elegant and colonial atmosphere.

The Victoria Angkor is meant to be a place where one can relax after a long day of sightseeing or a visit to the Temples. The property is surrounded by an oasis of beautiful plants, flowers and trees. It also has a salt-water swimming pool, a kid's pool and an open-air Jacuzzi.

If you prefer to stay in shape during your holiday, the gym offers the equipment you need for a complete workout. Or if you'd rather do the complete opposite you could spoil yourself with a delightful massage in the Healthysens Spa.

The Victoria Angkor have two restaurants, a bar, a souvenir shop and a library. It's also child-friendly. The Kid's Club offers a playground for children under the age of 12. It's open daily from 7am to 6pm and is equipped with TV and cartoons DVD, as well as toys.

The Colonial Suite Gouverneur

Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed with a welcome drink and a cold towel. Cedric kindly led us to our beautiful room located in the second floor after a quick tour in the lobby. As I walked through the hallway I was amazed by what I saw. I couldn't help but notice how much this place reminded me of The Legend of Tarzan. For a moment there I let myself play along with my dreams and fantasies of being Jane Porter. After all, day dreaming is good for the mind.

As we reached the end of the hallway, I quickly noticed the signboard hanging on the wall by the door. 155 Gouverneur Suite it said. Even though I have seen pictures of the entire hotel, I'm never sure what to expect to see as the rooms are carefully decorated in their own unique way.

The emotions I felt after getting introduced to our home the next few days was pure joy and excitement. A personal card and a bouquet of Lotus flower and a fruit basket was awaiting in the living room on our arrival day.

Our 73 square metre air-conditioned Colonial Suite features a king sized bed, a working desk equipped with a coffee machine, a flat-screen HDTV with movie channels and an iPod dock.

The Suite has its own separate living room facing the Royal Park as well as a bathroom with a bathtub, shower facility, hairdryer and free toiletries.
